The old masters technique of first creating an underpainting in black and white was our assignment. El Burro felt appropriate.
For our third assignment, we were tasked with the question “can color create mood?” We began by priming the canvas in blue. I chose this image of the historic snow in Houston at the sculpture garden.
In 2019, I had the opportunity to design a garden at Area 25 in Malawi. I took a picture of my volunteers who wanted to learn about xeriscaping. I have been looking forward to painting this since I started painting last fall.
Our first assignment in the Beginning Painting 2 class, we are tasked with creating a painting using only 1 color. I chose this guy from the MFAh’s permanent collection because he looked chill as he waits on the sidelines to enter the game.
After completing my first painting on my own, I am on to Las Palmas. I took this photo a few years ago and thought it would make nice painting. This is my first attempt at a “large” painting. The canvas is 20″x40″.
